Only With You, Live, 1972
Only With You , if you don't mind me saying so, is one of my favorite Dennis Wilson love ballads, and is one of those strange, rare moments where Dennis and Mike Love got together and did something really nice.
First appearing on Holland, it was graced with Carl's sweet voice on lead. (A later version with Dennis on lead is reported to exist...see our discography.)
This live version is a beauty! Recorded in Chicago in 1972, it features
Dennis on piano and Carl on lead vocal. This version is especially noteworthy because of the
tag at the end...Dennis takes over the vocal, and in 8 bars, puts his signature on the finished
work like an artist signing a painting. Beautiful.
